Simulate ‘blue light run’ at Salisbury Fire Station open day
Last year's open day was considered a success
After a successful open day last year, Salisbury Fire Station is opening it’s doors to locals once again today (26th August).
The Ashley Road station will be open from 10am to 4pm, with a variety of activities for us to get involved in.
We can ‘have a go’ at lifesaving skills, with a CPR training area, as well a chance to simulate a ‘blue light’ run and test our throwing ability at throwline target practice.
There’s also going to be a range of demonstrations from the firefighters, including hot oil fires and using the aerial ladder platform.
There’s fun for kids too as they can dress up as firefighters and spray water at targets.
One of the event organisers, Firefighter Sam Edwards, said: “We’ve got lots to see and do, and we’re also hoping visitors will find out more about staying safe at home. It’s all free, although we will be fundraising for the Fire Fighters Charity.”
Wiltshire Police, South Western Ambulance Service, British Red Cross, Wiltshire Search and Rescue and the Bobby Van will also be in attendance.
Visitors are warned there is no parking available at the Fire Station.
