We've been told that the Salisbury FC squad believes it's a match for any team in the National League South this season.

The Whites are preparing for their fifth game of the season today, a home fixture with Boreham Wood.

Today's visitors are among the teams relegated from the National League last season.

Salisbury defender Josh Sommerton told Greatest Hits Radio that the White's start to the season might have surprised some people.

"It's been very good so far," he said, adding that the opening fixtures had been 'tough'.

"I think we've got basis that we can believe and and we know how good we are to kind of kick on and hopefully take it to the rest of the league and and just see where we can finish up," he said.

Josh, who came through the Salisbury youth system, said there has been a step up in quality from the Southern Premier League.

"You can definitely sense it as a player being out there, the quality has definitely gone up and the tempo's just a bit quicker, team just structure is a little bit better. Every player is a good, solid, decent player," he said.

He added that while there has been a step up, it's not 'unplayable'.
