Focus on patient safety at Salisbury District Hospital amid strike action
Junior Doctors are walking out for three days until Saturday (23/12)
Bosses at Salisbury District Hospital say they're expecting to be very busy in the final days before Christmas, as Junior Doctors take further industrial action.
Members of the BMA are walking out once more in their row over pay from 7am this morning (20th December) to Saturday (23rd December) at 7am.
SDH officials have told us they're continuing to focus on ensuring patient safety and maintaining critical services.
In a statement, the Hospital said: "Regardless of the industrial action taking place, it is really important that patients who need urgent medical care continue to come forward as normal, especially in emergency and life-threatening cases and our services will be there for these people."
While A&E remains open, people with minor injuries or concerns are warned that critical cases prioritised ahead of them, so wait times may be longer than usual.
We should also only call 999 in an emergency.
As a result, we're urged to consider alternatives such as NHS 111, GP surgeries, local pharmacies or the Salisbury Walk-in centre on Avon Approach.
People with appointments should attend them, as planned, unless they've been contacted by the NHS to rearrange.
