Salisbury District Hospital records another Covid death

Salisbury District Hospital have confirmed that a further patient has passed away there, having tested positive for Covid-19.

This means the total number of fatalities is at 222 since the pandemic began.

A spokesperson for Salisbury District Hospital said:

“Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for COVID-19 died on Saturday 25th September. The patient was in her 80s and had underlying health conditions.

222 patients in total have now passed away.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient’s family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time.

There are currently 6 COVID-19 positive patients being treated at the hospital.

We would urge everyone to continue to take precautions to minimise the spread of the virus."

LATEST CASES

In the seven days to 22nd September, there have been 1,494 positive cases in Wiltshire.

That's a increase of 458 on the previous week.

This means the county's rolling rate per 100,000 population is at 296.4.

The national average is 313.7.
