Further steps taken as our hospital battles 'severe impact' of coronavirus infection

Hospital bosses are having to find new ways to cope with what they've called "unprecedented pressure' from the Covid-19 pandemic.
There are currently almost 140 patients that have tested positive for the virus who need care along with other patients with critical conditions.
In a statement Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust confirmed;
"We have started to use areas for different purposes meaning that our Day Surgery Unit is now being used as a ward space. In addition, to plan for all eventualities the gym at the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Centre is being prepared to be used for further bed space if needed."
MILITARY ASSISTING
Meanwhile the military have also been lending a hand although exact details of their role haven't been released.
The Trust told Greatest Hits Radio that it is "grateful to the military personnel and volunteers who are supporting our teams across the hospital."
FACE MASKS
Meanwhile anyone attending the hospital now has to wear a surgical mask rather than a fabric mask.
The hospital is providing these for those that don't have them.
Social distancing measures in some waiting rooms have been enhanced with plastic screens in between chairs.
Meanwhile the hospital is urging us all to continue to stick to government guidance.
"Everyone can help our staff through obeying the lockdown rules and by wearing a face mask, regularly washing their hands and remembering to maintain social distancing"
