The Pfizer-Biontech vaccine will start being rolled out to eligible groups of people across the country from today (Tuesday 8th December).

It'll start with care home residents and staff, frontline NHS workers and those over the age of 80.

The Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust had asked people within those groups to WAIT to be contacted for their jab, instead of calling hospitals or GP practices.

Salisbury District Hospital is not one of the first 50 hospital hubs to be offering the vaccine from this week.

But we're told they're 'fully prepared to receive and administer' the jabs once they arrive here.

One city doctors surgery have also asked their patients to wait for further information about the 'exciting' vaccines, which 'should improve quality of life for all of us'.

Salisbury Medical Practice has posted an update on their Twitter feed:

In it, they've said they'll keep their community updated with any developments as they get them.

But they have told patients 'work is underway to prepare for the roll-out and good progress is being made'.

Salisbury Medical Practice say they're making 'good progress' on their preparation to roll-out the vaccine when it arrives here
