Salisbury District Hospital's Farley Ward, which looks after respiratory patients, is limiting visiting with immediate effect

It's due to the number of Covid-19 positive patients they're currently treating, and the need to prevent further spread.

As of 8.15am this morning (Friday 18th December), 16 patients were being treated at SDH having tested positive for Covid-19.

Only essential visits will be allowed to Farley Ward, with anyone wishing to see someone there asked to contact the ward beforehand.

The District Hospital's also asking people who would have visited to consider alternative ways of keeping in touch, such as video calls.

Ward staff can help patients with using iPads and other technology.

Judy Dyos, Director of Nursing at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust said:

"We are very sorry to have to restrict visiting in this way - it is only ever done to protect the health of patients, visitors and our staff.

"It is incredibly important that people continue to adhere to all COVID-19 restrictions. Please keep your distance, wear a mask and wash your hands regularly. Together we can reduce infection and save lives."

The Education Fund will help to boost the training of people around the hospital and its catchment area

WHAT ABOUT OTHER WARDS?

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust has confirmed that these restrictions only apply to Farley Ward at this time.

All other wards do have some visiting restrictions though, and we're asked to check the Salisbury District Hospital website for the latest advice.
