Services to be ‘busier than usual’ at Salisbury District Hospital during strike action
NHS Consultants and Junior Doctors are walking out this week
As Consultants and Junior Doctors at hospitals across the nation walkout over the next couple of days, we are being warned that some services at Salisbury District Hospital (SDH) are expected to be busier than usual.
It’s the tenth month of industrial action across the NHS, in an ongoing row over pay.
In a statement, Salisbury's NHS Foundation Trust said:
"Our focus is on patient safety and providing compassionate care. We ask patients to please attend hospital as usual unless they have been contacted directly to have an appointment rearranged.
We expect some services to be busier than usual and request that our emergency services are used for life threatening and critical illness, conditions and injuries."
They've also reminded patients that other health services are available such as NHS 111, the Salisbury Walk In Centre and local pharmacies.
GP surgeries are not affected by the latest industrial action either.
Consultants are walking out today (Tuesday 19th September), with junior doctors carrying out a joint strike from Wednesday (20th).
