It's so the roof can be replaced at the Bishopdown site

Salisbury's Crematorium is to be closed for two months this summer, so that essential repairs can be carried out.

The City Council will replace the roof of the building off Barrington Road in Bishopdown, during July and August.

We're told the works will also include efforts to improve the roof's insulation.

That's aimed at helping Salisbury City Council towards its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.

No services will be able to take place while the work's taking place, but cremations will continue on site as usual.

The City Council's arranged for services to be held at the Holy Redeemer Church on Fotherby Crescent, just around the corner from the Crematorium Chapel, in the meantime as well.
