A second Lidl store could soon be appearing in Salisbury.

Plans for an extra branch in the city have been submitted to Wiltshire Council.

The proposed store would be in the Churchill Way Retail Park, replacing Smyths and Homesense.

The brand already has a store on Southampton Road, with this planned second site "driven by growing local demand".

It's hoped the new store would serve the north and west of the city.

Lidl say the Churchill Way store would create 40 new jobs.

James Mitchell, Regional Head of Property at Lidl GB, said: “We’re thrilled to announce our plans for a second store in Salisbury.

"The demand for our high-quality, best-value products continues to grow, and we’re eager to make shopping even more convenient for customers, with our new store ideally located to serve residents in the north and west of Salisbury.

"Ensuring the community is involved in the planning process is vital, so we look forward to receiving valuable feedback from residents.”

A public consultation on the plans is now underway, with Wiltshire Council taking comments until November 18th.

We've contacted Smyths and Homesense for a response.
