Salisbury Comedy Festival delayed by a year due to Covid uncertainty

It was planned for this summer

The organisers of the first Salisbury Comedy Festival say it was an "exceptionally difficult" decision to postpone the event for a year.

It was supposed to go ahead on Hudson's Field on the 7th August, however due to the delay to the roadmap and the uncertainty around Covid-19 it won't be able to go ahead.

The festival will now take place on Sunday 31st July 2022.

In a post on their Facebook page, the organisers said:

"Following the government’s announcement to delay the move to Step 4, we have been carefully monitoring the situation and considering how this will impact Salisbury Comedy Festival. Current delays and uncertainty around easing lockdown measures put extra strain on independent festival organisers like us, who are already under pressure to deliver events with no COVID-related insurance or government backing.

Our team has been working extremely hard to ensure that the festival is happening this year, however, with the lack of guidance from the government on managing large-scale events, we have had to make an exceptionally difficult decision to reschedule Salisbury Comedy Festival.

We recognise that you will share our disappointment. To say sorry, we will be offering all ticket holders exclusive discounts on our other planned events in Salisbury, Bournemouth and Southampton over the Autumn and Winter.

We would like to thank you for supporting local businesses such as ourselves who are working hard to enhance the city and rebuild the economy!"

Tickets will be automatically transferred to next year's date.

Comedians like Frankie Boyle, Dara O Briain, Seann Walsh and Angela Barnes were set to appear on the outdoor stage.

Some money raised will also be going towards the Stars Appeal charity.

Further details can be found on the festival's website.
