Salisbury City Hall to marketed by real estate agents
It's the latest step towards reopening the venue
Wiltshire Council's issued an update on the process of reopening Salisbury City Hall, with a specialist company being brought in to market the venue to prospective organisations.
They've teamed up with real estate experts Savills to market City Hall on the council’s behalf on a long lease, with Savills supporting in identifying the best suited potential organisations to enter a lease of more than 25 years.
Any deal will include that the Council retains ownership of the venue and that it be used for entertainment.
Cllr Richard Clewer, Leader of the council, said: “We’re pleased to be working with Savills UK on this project and their expertise over the next few months will prove vital as we look to secure a provider to take City Hall into a new era on our behalf.
“We’ll be in regular contact with them throughout this process and will provide further updates when we can.
“As we’ve stated all throughout this work, we want City Hall to be a thriving entertainment venue that complements the city, and we look forward to working with Savills UK to help identify a provider that shares this vision.”
The venue has been closed since 2021, when it was used as a vaccination centre during the COVID-19 pandemic, with structural issues with the roof being cited for hamstringing it's use.
