They've said it's in an effort to 'increase openness' of their work
Salisbury City Council has started to live-stream their meetings, for residents to see without having to attend in person.
From now on, their committees can be watched through Microsoft Teams live, through a link on the authority's website.
The first meeting to use the new technology was on Monday evening (3rd July), showing the Environment and Climate Committee.
Recordings will also be taken, to go up on up the City Council's YouTube channel shortly afterwards.
The authority say it's all aimed at give us more of an insight into how the Council operates.
Cllr Alan Bayliss, who chairs the Finance and Governance committee said:
“After trying different setups to ensure good sound and visual quality, I am pleased to say the public will now be able to view our meetings in their own home if they don’t wish to or can’t attend in person at the Guildhall.
"We have been keen to increase openness on how the council makes decisions, and members of the public can now click to view our meetings."
