A £15,000 grant has been given to Salisbury City Council towards a new set of recycling bins to be put around the city centre.

The cash from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, will pay for 18 new bins, their installation and the recycling collections.

The facilities are now starting to be put in around Salisbury.

Leadership group member, Cllr Annie Riddle said:

“I am very pleased that the City Council was successful in receiving a grant for new recycling bins. One of Salisbury City Council’s aims under its Environmental Policy is to increase the recycling of city generated waste and reduce the waste going to landfill. The grant will really help in making this happen and I ask the public to make sure that they continue to take care of our City by putting litter in bins or taking it home.”

The authority also say the city centre will see a further increase in recycling bins once the Fisherton Gateway and River Park projects are completed in the coming years too.

They're working alongside Wiltshire Council and Environment Agency to push for all new bins to have a recycling section where possible.
