Churchfields Road in Salisbury will be closed overnight for two nights, as part of the Station Forecourt project.

The route will be shut between 8.00pm and 5.00am tonight (Thursday 8th August) and tomorrow (Friday 9th).

Contractors from Wiltshire Council will be on site to remove the existing traffic island, close to the back of the station car park.

That'll eventually be replaced by a new pedestrian and cycle access point, as well as a new crossing point there.

We're told HGVs won't be able to access the industrial estate while the work's ongoing for the rest of the work.

Any businesses that require urgent access can speak to the contractor to arrange a possible escort through the works.

That will however, involve vehicles waiting on Churchfields Road before being escorted.

The work comes at the same time as Fisherton Street is also closed, for work as part of the Fisherton Gateway project.

Cllr Nick Holder, Wiltshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, Street Scene and Flooding, said:

“One of our Business Plan priorities is to have vibrant well-connected communities and we are well on our way to achieving this in Salisbury.

“We would like to thank businesses and residents for their patience and continued co-operation in delivering these important schemes for Salisbury.”
