The popular decorated tree festival at St Thomas's Church in the heart of Salisbury returns today (30th November).

The event features 90 trees adorned with decorations created by local organisations, companies, schools and individuals.

Last year it had to be held online due to the pandemic and organisers say they're "overjoyed" to hold it in person again.

Among those taking part this year are St Martin’s C of E Primary School with a theme of 'Christmas Around the World' celebrating different traditions whilst Wilton's Mens Shed entry is a "tree from recycled wood and other materials that might otherwise be regarded as rubbish."

The Rifles Berkshire and Wiltshire Museum swap baubles for medals whilst elderly residents at Ashley Grange Nursing Home in Downton got hands on for their decorations.

There's also an interesting tree made solely of books!

There's a host of unsual and wonderful trees to see at St Thomas's Church this year

Visitors will also be able to be entertained by local choirs, ensembles and individual musicians with a programme of seasonal music at select times and there's even a Festival Café!

The event is free to enter but donations can be left in aid of two specially chosen charities along with the Church itself.

The Children’s Society and Wessex Stoma Support Group are the featured local causes.

The Christmas Tree Festival runs on the following dates:

10am – 6pm Tuesday 30th November – Saturday 4th December

12pm – 6pm Sunday 5th Dec

Last entries for all days is 530pm.
