Salisbury's Christmas Tree Festival is back for 2023, bringing festive cheer to the centre of the city.

Up to 100 trees and nativity scenes are on display at St Thomas' Church, by local schools and organisations, to raise money for charity.

The Festival opens its doors today (Tuesday 5th December) and will continue through until Sunday (10th December).

The festival includes live music throughout, to entertain visitors

Entry is free for visitors, but donations are taken for local charities - this year the event's supporting Salisbury's branch of Alzheimer's Support and the Salisbury Trust for the Homeless.

During the 2022 Festival, 12,000 people went to see the trees, with over £15,000 raised.

The event's become one of Salisbury's most popular parts of the festive season

One of the organisers, Chris Rider says it's a heart-warming event:

"This is the 19th year now, and people ask 'am I going to see the same old, same old'? The answer is absolutely not! I've just had to wrestle past Christmas in Space, in the form of a rocket-shaped tree!

"I've been inspired by walking around and seeing the imagination used in creating these incredible Christmas trees. 50% of the organisations exhibiting this year, did not exhibit last year. There is something new for everyone, doesn't matter about your age or background, there's something in the Festival for all."
