The Charter Market will continue to run every Tuesday and Saturday, despite the national lockdown.

It will go ahead as "normal to give residents access to essential items in a safe outdoor shopping experience".

Stalls included will sell food items, pet food, hardware and plants.

OTHER SERVICES

Meanwhile, Salisbury City Council have said most things will be "business as usual" but some of their services will be have to shut.

These include:

  • The Guildhall - Front doors will be closed to unrestricted visitors from tomorrow (Thursday 5th), this is to support the government's measures to promote social distancing and limit staff's contact with visitors
  • Salisbury Information Centre
  • Public toilets - All of them will be closed, except the ones in Lush House car park, the Coach Station and Market Square on market days
  • Shopmobility - open for equipment hire by appointment only

In order to make sure people stick to social distancing guidelines, the Mayor of Salisbury will be laying a wreath on behalf of the city for Remembrance Sunday, but residents are being asked not to gather in groups.

Elsewhere, the Crematorium will remain open, council meetings will be held virtually and CCTV remain fully operational.

We can also look forward to Saturday 21st November when the city's Christmas lights will be switched on.
