Salisbury Charter Market cancelled due to storm Arwen
Decision made as Met Office forecasters warn of gale force winds
Last updated 26th Nov 2021
Salisbury City Council have announced that tomorrow's Charter Market in the city (Saturday 27 Nov) has been cancelled.
Organisers say, unfortunately, it's due to the adverse weather that's expected tomorrow.
A Met Office YELLOW WEATHER WARNING for wind is in place across the South West, and for much of the UK, with severe gales and wind expected across all regions, with snow also possible in part of Wiltshire including the area around Tidworth and Salisbury Plain.
The Met Office website says:
"Whilst most areas will see spells of rain there is a small chance of this turning to snow on Saturday morning leading to some disruption."
Salisbury City Council have decided the forecast is too rough for the historic Charter Market to go ahead safely, and have apologised for any inconvenience caused. They hope to see you at the next market on Tuesday.
