Salisbury's celebrating St George's Day
There's been a two year break due to Covid
Salisbury is hosting many events today (Sunday 24th April) as the city council celebrates St George's Day.
The events begin at 9:55am with the Salisbury Town Crier announcing the start of the procession.
The throughout the day many activities will be held including street food, Morris Dancers, puppet shows, live music, face painting and more in the city centre.
It's the first time in two years the city council are marking St George's Day, due to Covid-19.
THE RUN DOWN OF EVENTS
Here's the timings of the events:
9.55am – Salisbury Town Crier at the Guildhall steps
Listen out for Salisbury’s Town Crier who will be announcing the start of St. George’s Day before the beginning of the procession.
10.30am, 12pm, 1.15pm, 2.45pm – Medieval Storytelling in The Guildhall
Our master storyteller will treat you to tales from the medieval period and give you an insight into Salisbury’s fascinating history.
11.15am & 2pm – Mr Brown’s Pig Puppet Show in The Guildhall
Join us at the puppet show to hear a magical story that will have you captivated from start to finish. Great fun for young and old alike.
12pm – The Salisbury St. George Blue Badge FREE Guided Tour
Meet at The Guildhall entrance for a wonderful tour of our historic city and find out facts about St. George hidden in Salisbury.
12.30pm & 3.15pm – St. George v The Dragon in The Guildhall
Was the dragon naughty or was St. George to blame? You decide in this family fun court drama acted in our fabulous court room. Please note, there is no disabled access in the Oak Court.
