Salisbury Cathedral's peregrines have some EGG-citing news!
It's the first one of the season
There's been some egg-citing (sorry!) news for anyone interested in the peregrine falcons at Salisbury Cathedral.
Last night at around 11:40pm the resident female laid her first egg of the breeding season.
She stayed with it overnight, before taking a break when her mate arrived at around 6am.
It was seen on their live stream cameras in the nest box.
At around 10:40am this morning, one of the birds could be seen sitting on top of it, which they will do for brief periods.
Last year 4 eggs were laid, which is around the usual amount, but incubation will begin after they have all appeared.
They are generally laid at 2-3 day intervals and usually take 29-30 days to hatch.
This could mean we start to see some chicks towards the end of April.
