Salisbury Cathedral's flower arrangers spreading Christmas cheer
They'll be selling festive wreaths for the first time.
The 35 strong team of flower arrangers are starting to take orders for wreaths, with the proceeds going towards Salisbury Cathedral's Covid Recovery Appeal.
There's a target to raise £2 million in total, to recoup the tourist income they've lost as a result of the pandemic.
Roslyn Peace, from the floral team at the Cathedral, says they're looking forward to getting stuck in:
"We thought this might be a little way of doing something for (the Cathedral). So I've set up this scheme for virtually all of us to do a couple of wreaths at least in our own homes. To have a creative focus is really nice for everyone, we're all really happy about that."
The wreaths will cost £25 and can be ordered from today (Thursday 19th November).
You can find them by visiting the Salisbury Cathedral website.
The last orders will be taken on December 1st, to ensure there's time for them to be made.
They'll be available to collect from the Cathedral on Tuesday 15th December.
It should have been a busy year for the flower arrangers at Salisbury Cathdedral during 2020.
As well as their normal efforts to brighten up the building with displays for services and special occasions, a huge flower festival had been planned to mark the Cathedral's 800th anniversary this year.
With the lockdowns leaving the site closed for much of the year too, the team say they're keen to get back to 'work'.
Roslyn Peace has been helping to get them organised:
"I've run some workshops for people who wanted a bit of support (with making the wreaths), but virtually everybody's taking part, very enthusiastic about it, and we're just hoping for the best!"
