Salisbury Cathedral to archive books of condolence for The Queen
Their archivist says it's an important piece of history
The books of condolence at Salisbury Cathedral for the Queen are going to be kept in their archives.
It will go alongside other memories of Her Majesty collected from previous visits to the city.
Emily Naish is the Cathedral Archivist:
"We're going to keep them in the Cathedral archive for posterity. This will absolutely fantastic to record permanently here in the archive everyone's thoughts, messages and best wishes to Her Majesty."
Emily's told Greatest Hits Radio that it's important special memories like these are kept safe:
"We want to make sure that we keep official records, like committee minutes and accounts; but we also want to make sure that we have records of the people that worship and visit the Cathedral, and the Salisbury community as well. These books are a perfect for capturing the mood of the city at this time."
Salisbury Cathedral's also confirmed that they'll be keeping the cards, letters, photos and drawings left out for the Queen in the archives too.
Any flowers left outside the building in Her Majesty's memory are now starting to be taken away.
But we're told they'll be composted and used in the grounds at a later date.
