You'll need a ticket this year to attend Salisbury Cathedral's popular Darkness to Light services.

The events held on three days will still be free but the measure has been introduced to help manage capacity which is 'very limited' due to the pandemic.

Heralding the festive season, the Darkness to Light services mark the start of Advent.

Each service begins in total darkness and silence, broken by a lone voice and the lighting of a single candle. Gradually the spectacle builds as the choir and processions make their way around the Cathedral, singing and lighting candles as they go, until the building is illuminated end-to-end by 1300 flickering lights.

The service sees the procession make its way around the Cathedral, lighting more than 1,000 candles
