Salisbury Cathedral Peregrine egg count grows to four
2022 saw four chicks hatch
A fourth Peregrine Falcon egg has been laid on the South Tower balcony at Salisbury Cathedral.
The pair of birds have been nesting for the ninth year in a row have now matched 2022’s count of four eggs, with incubation beginning after the penultimate egg.
The fourth egg was spotted by an RSPB South Wilts member around 6pm on Friday evening, with livestream footage of the Peregrines quickly confirming the existence of a new egg.
Incubation of each egg takes between 29 and 32 days, meaning the countdown is on to the arrival of the first chick.
Last year’s chicks were named after Queen Elizabeth II’s pets.
