A special service is being held at Salisbury Cathedral today (Saturday 14th September) exclusively for the pets of Salisbury.

In a Cathedral first, our pets can be blessed to celebrate the joy and companionship they bring to our lives.

The service, called "All Creatures Great And Small", will give thanks for all God's creatures, with everyone welcome.

It will take place at the West end of the Cathedral and will include readings, hymns and music sung by the Cathedral choristers and the Cathedral’s Junior Choir.

There will be hymns by John Rutter and Andrew Carter, as well as music from the pop cantata Captain Noah and His Floating Zoo.

Canon Precentor Anna Macham said:

“Pets can be very important to our lives, offering comfort and companionship. We hope this service will be an uplifting and enjoyable afternoon, celebrating the bond many of us have with our animals.”

The service starts at 2.00pm.

People attending with their pets can get involved outside on the West Front side of the building, but only people are allowed inside, unless they're assistance animals.
