Some great news from Salisbury Cathedral today (Wednesday 23rd April) - the first Peregrine Falcon chick for this year has hatched!

It's believed to have arrived at around 1.35pm this afternoon.

A video's been shared by the Cathedral of the magical moment:

It's hoped this chick will be joined by three others from the remaining eggs.

It normally takes 30 days for the eggs to be incubated jointly by the peregrine parents - so the first chick wasn't actually due to arrive until this weekend (around Saturday 26th April).

Last year saw three chicks hatch and successfully fledge the nestbox on the Spire Tower.
