Easter Garden at Salisbury Cathedral opens
It's on display until May 28th
A display depicting the Easter story has been opened at Salisbury Cathedral and received positive feedback.
The Easter Garden features three crosses and a tomb, made in the Cathedral’s Works Yard, amongst an array of Mediterranean plants reminiscent of the landscape and story of Jesus.
The tomb has been constructed using the same stone as the Cathedral itself.
Canon Treasurer of Salisbury Cathedral, Kenneth Padley, oversaw the construction of the garden:
“Many churches have Easter Gardens, my colleague the Dean saw a large outdoor example when he worked at Canterbury Cathedral, and he had a vision of something similar here.”
The garden was designed by Andy McIndoe, the award-winning designer, and has been well received by people visiting the Cathedral:
“A lot of people are saying that it’s better than they had anticipated when they heard the idea and it’s really exceeded expectations.”
The display will remain at the Cathedral until May 28th, when Easter Season ends.
