A stone commemorating the 800th anniversary of Salisbury Cathedral has finally been lowered into place.

The Cathedral celebrated the milestone in 2020, which featured a Royal visit from the then Prince of Wales, and now, King Charles.

In his speech at the socially distanced event in December 2020, the King described the Cathedral as “impossibly beautiful”, adding that the Cathedral is a “living building” with “living stones”.

The stone itself features an inscription that reads:

“In the presence of HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall this stone was dedicated by the Bishop of Salisbury to mark the 800th anniversary of the Cathedral's foundation 07. XII. AD 2020"
