As today is the last Saturday before Christmas (18th December), it's been predicted to be the busiest in-store shopping day across the UK.

Salisbury businesses have been preparing for what has been dubbed 'Super Saturday', and are making sure people will be safe while out and about.

Last Saturday (11th December) was the city’s busiest day and night of the year so far according to the latest footfall figures. The numbers were also up 6% the same time last year.

With more people expected to hit the shops this weekend, Salisbury BID is reminding people how important it is to shop local, whilst sticking to Covid-19 guidance.

Robin McGowan, Chief Executive of Salisbury BID, said:

“Shopping local really does make a big difference, whether it’s on Super Saturday or any other day of the week. Salisbury businesses continue to need our support as the pandemic casts a shadow over Christmas once more. From unique independents to national chains, the city centre has a large array of businesses that you can choose from.

“We realise that some people may be wary about venturing out to finish their present buying because of the current Covid-19 situation but if we all stick to the guidance both customers and staff can stay safe.”

GUIDANCE TO FOLLOW
