The owners of Live Escape Salisbury say they're excited for the future and the time given to them by the pandemic has been a "blessing in disguise" as they plan to open a new room.

Husband and wife Claire and Charlie Pitcher have taken over one of the empty buildings in the city centre, as they look to transform a former restaurant and coffee shop in the Cross Keys Arcade.

They are currently in the process of sorting out all the new bits for the room, which will be themed around old games, called the Smallsbury Toy Company.

The building is located in the Cross Keys Arcade

Like most other businesses in the city, they had to close their Castle Street site when we went into lockdown last March.

Claire said:

"We had been looking for the perfect spot in the city centre for what seemed like an eternity. We wanted a building of interest, something special that leant itself to what we had in mind for our new experiences.

"Our new location is bursting with original features. Old timber beams, vaulted ceilings and an original fireplace. Visiting us will not just be an escape room experience, but a journey into Salisbury's fascinating past."

The couple say they were able to use this time to work on their new room, which they have been planning to do for a few years.

They now hope to be able to open a new room by the summer holidays.

As well as the new room, they will also be creating a table game called 'Pieces of Eight' which will be in the downstairs of the building.

Charlie explained:

"It's a brilliant pirate themed puzzle experience. Teams have one hour to progress through three pirate chests full of escape room type challenges, both mechanical and mental.

"Teams of up to six will have the stunning space downstairs all to themselves to be able to complete the game."

HAUNTED HISTORY

The building they have taken over in the Cross Keys Arcade is considered to be one of the most haunted ones in the city.

So Claire and Charlie have teamed up with cousins Barry King and Ian Crowley who have been investigating there many times.

They're running ghost hunts for people to come and try and connect with the spirits.
