Salisbury named top bounce back city in the UK
City ranked first for retail recovery

Market research company Ipsos Mori has been looking at how well places have fared since non essential business reopened on April 12th.
Salisbury topped the list beating the likes of Harrow, Worcester, Kingston-upon-Thames and Newcastle.
The Retail Recovery Index data is constructed from the number of shoppers entering stores using a nationally representative sample of over 4000 retail outlets across the UK, excluding the grocery, convenience and minor retail service sectors.
Ipsos Mori says it's the only 'true measure of retail footfall' as it draws from people entering shops rather than just walking down the street.
Salisbury BID say the support from locals has played a key role.
Sarah Haydon, owner of Conker Boutique, said she's grateful for the loyalty;
“You have no idea how strongly we feel about our customers who have been loyal to us during lockdown and since lockdown has been lifted. We are so lucky to have customers who come back week after week and appreciate what we are trying to achieve here. We are in a lovely city and we need to keep it moving along. It’s great to see it buzzing again.”
Meanwhile Salisbury BID has spent the last month promoting the city's vast array of independent shops and services, more than 200 of them!
More than 2,000 free shopping bags have been handed out as a thank-you to locals who have supported them.
