Salisbury bike owners urged to register bikes in case of theft
Police can mark our bikes with unique codes
Bike owners in Salisbury are being encouraged to register them in case they're ever stolen - meaning they're easier to recover.
The call comes after local neighbourhood policing officers registered bikes for the community at Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre last Friday (1/11)
PC Grinham said: “Marking your bike with a unique code helps police trace your bike back to you if it is stolen.
"However, bike thefts can occur at any time and to help prevent this from happening you could:
- Park your bike in well-lit areas
- Lock bike frame and wheels to an immovable object
- Take any removable items with you such as a basket or saddle.
At home you could:
-Store your bike in a locked shed/garage
-Keep out of sight
-Secure it to an immovable object”
Further information on registering our bikes on police systems can be found here.
