The Nutcracker Kings hide and seek in Salisbury is back.

Last year saw the event cancelled because of the pandemic but this year ten of the 6ft 5” statues have been hidden around Salisbury, just in time for Christmas.

They are located in businesses across the city centre and the location of them will change every two weeks.

If you come across one, take a selfie with it and post it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter as you could win a prize.

Salisbury BID is working to increase footfall and spend across the city centre in the run up to Christmas, while spreading the shop local message.

Get cracking with the Nutcracker Kings hide and seek!

When you post your selfie with the nutcracker, please make sure to tag Experience Salisbury and Salisbury BID as well as using the hashtag #SalisburyNutcracker and the business where you took the photo. You will then go into the draw to win a Salisbury Gift Card.

There will be a draw at the end of each two-week period (3rd, 17th and 31st December 2021). Each of the three winners will receive a £50 Salisbury Gift Card.

Debbie Norton, owner of Pure Comfort on Winchester Street, jumped at the chance of hosting a Nutcracker King: “I’m absolutely delighted to be part of the Nutcracker King Hide and Seek competition. I hope it brings a lot of people into the store to see him. This kind of thing does entice people to walk around the city further than within the inner part of it and discover the smaller roads. It’s great. It encourages people to walk further.”

Shop local this Christmas

Christmas Day is only five weeks away and Salisbury BID (Business Improvement District) is stressing the importance of shopping local.

It has been a tough couple years for businesses, but we can all help by getting behind local retailers and hospitality venues by supporting them this festive season.

Dan Collins, Salisbury BID Business Manager, said: “Salisbury has a huge array of independent businesses, it is one of the many reasons why the city is special and unique.

Local businesses are the backbone of the community and by shopping local this Christmas, we can all help to keep money in the local economy and keep our high street strong. The message really is: use it or lose it.”
