The 26-year-old joins on a deal until the end of the season, becoming the second addition to the Men’s First Team squad during the January transfer window.

A Wales international with 27 senior caps to his name, Brooks has made 114 appearances and scored 20 goals for Bournemouth since arriving at the club in 2018 from Sheffield United.

He follows fellow Cherries teammate Joe Rothwell into St Mary’s this month, after the midfielder also joined on loan earlier in the window.

Director of Football Jason Wilcox said: “We were clear coming into this window that we ideally wanted a wide player, and David’s name was at the very top of the list, so we’re extremely pleased to have added him to the squad.

“He’s a very talented and dynamic player who will further increase both our quality and depth.

“It’s been a very positive month of business with the additions of Joe and now David, and we feel we’ve put ourselves in a strong position for the remainder of the season.”

David Brooks said: “I’m really happy. With the past couple of years with my situation, just to kind of come here and try and get some game time, I’m really looking forward to it and can’t wait to get started.

“That’s why I’ve made the decision to come away from Bournemouth. I think the game time was a little bit limited there at this present time so I was very eager to get to a point where I wanted to be playing regular minutes and this opportunity came up and it was one that I couldn’t really turn down.”
