A Renault Scenic was seen by police coming through Collingbourne Ducis at around 8.00pm last night (Wednesday 16th December) with a faulty headlight.

Officers believe it had come into Wiltshire from the Andover direction, but it didn't stop for them.

As the car was followed by officers, the people inside it started throwing items out of the windows.

It then stopped on a driveway and three males got out and ran off into a wooded area.

The car was left abandoned, with three men seen running away

The men are described as wearing grey tracksuits and balaclavas.

Police also found a safe (pictured above) in the back of the Scenic.

Detective Constable Anthony Swift from Wiltshire Police said:

"We believe this safe was taken from a property outside of Wiltshire and need the rightful owner to contact us so we can return it to them.

"We'd also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the occupants of this car fleeing the scene or saw anyone acting suspiciously in or nearby the village yesterday evening."

If you can help or recognise the safe, you're asked to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference number 54200124556."
