Roméo Lavia departs Southampton
The Belgian has joined Chelsea for a reported £58 million
Another Southampton midfielder has swapped the South Coast for London.
Roméo Lavia has joined Chelsea for a reported £58 million, following ex-Saint’s captain James Ward-Prowse.
The Belgian spent one season at St Mary’s after joining in 2022 from Manchester City, making 34 appearances and scoring one goal – ironically against Chelsea in 2-1 victory for the Saints!
On his social media accounts, the 19-year-old thanked the fans for their support.
“I’ll never forget the belief the club and Saints all around the world showed me and I hope I was able to repay the faith you put in me.”
Lavia thanked his teammates and club staff for making him a better person, athlete and footballer.
“I will forever be grateful to you,” he said, adding, “the club will always remain close to my heart.”
In a statement on their website, Southampton thanked Lavia for his efforts and his professionalism during his time at the club, wishing him every success in his future career.
