The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is closing on its 200th birthday and the Salisbury, Wilton and District branch needs your support.

Volunteers will be at several local events in the coming months, including the Downton Cuckoo Fair in April and at Salisbury Racecourse in May.

The branch supports the RNLI Station in Mudeford, where they have an Atlantic class boat, and raised over £11,500 in 2022, a 20% rise on the Covid affect 2021 efforts.

Other events featuring the RNLI are a concert with The Navy Larks, a local Sea Shanty Group, in June, as well as a Golf Day in October.

Chairman of the Salisbury, Wilton and District branch told us of another, special, way that people can support the charity, called “Launch a Memory”.

“Because we are building our own new lifeboats, they cost in excess of £2 million, but there is a scheme that is called ‘Launch a Memory’.

“It means that if you have a relative that you want to remember, you can actually put their name on the side of the boat through this scheme.”
