Lockdown prompts big increase in calls to Hampshire befriending service
Demand doubles as some residents struggle with the latest restrictions
A befriending charity in Hampshire says it's in desperate need for volunteers following huge demand for its services during the pandemic.
Butterflies Friendship Support offers help to those feeling isolated and alone and is currently getting around 200 requests a day.
Manager Paul Burrows-Gibson says phoning someone for a chat can mean everything:
"We're hear to listen, we're hear to understand that they're struggling through isolation. For many people our telephone buddies are the only contact they have to the outside world."
Anyone who is interested in volunteering is urged to contact the charity on info@butterfliesbereavement.co.uk
