Register your bike in Fordingbridge to reduce thefts
Register for free and keep bike theft down in the New Forest
Bike owners can register their bike for FREE in Fordingbridge this morning (7th August) to help reduce cycle thefts in the New Forest.
The New Forest District Council’s (NFDC) community safety team are hosting a session at Fordingbridge Recreation Ground where people can get their bike marked with a unique reference number.
The number will be added to the national bike register database, which will help stolen bikes be reunited successfully with their owners. Registration usually costs £19.99.
Last year, the NFDC marked 230 bikes at events across the district.
They’ll be at the Recreation Ground between 10am and 11:30am this morning (Monday).
The NFDC will be joined by members of the local neighbourhood policing group to engage with residents and visitors about topics such as anti-social behaviour and crime.
They’ll also be offering practical advice on preventing crime and explaining how the council and partners of Safer New Forest work as a collective to keep crime low in the New Forest area.
Councillor Dan Poole, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Safety, and Wellbeing at New Forest District Council, says: “I would like to encourage our residents to attend these community engagement sessions, which are an opportunity to speak with the council’s community safety team and Hampshire Constabulary regarding crime and anti-social behaviour, whilst taking advantage of the free bike registering that is available to them.”
