Recycling collections resume in Wiltshire

The blue-lidded bins will start to be emptied again, following strike action

There's a sigh of relief from around 220,000 households in Wiltshire this morning (Monday 21st March), as our recycling bins will start to be emptied once again.

Hills Municipal Collections staff who have been on strike for the last two weeks are back at work, after agreeing to an improved pay deal.

That's meant blue bin collections can resume, along with our normal household waste.

The collections by Hills are made on behalf of Wiltshire Council.

They've asked residents to put out their bins as normal on their scheduled collection day.

There could be some delays to the pick ups, while the crews get back on track - in which case, the advice is to leave the bin out and it will be collected as soon as possible.

The industrial action by Wiltshire's refuse collectors has led to delays in bins being emptied, and households seeing their rubbish building up at home

If you've got extra recycling that's built up during the strike, we can leave it by the side of the blue-lidded bin and they will be taken away.

They should be left out in non-black bags or plastic containers.

That extra volume of materials to take away may also contribute to delays in the collections.

There's no change to household black bin collections or garden waste pick ups, so we're asked to keep putting those out on the correct days.
