Ready, steady, bake! Salisbury Bake Off winners announced

The competition marked the last day of Taste Salisbury

Wanting a slice of the Bake off action, Salisbury City Council have hosted their own version of the hit Channel 4 show.

The Great Salisbury Bake Off, was held on Foodie Sunday (Sunday 5th September) as end to the city's Taste Festival and gave budding bakers a chance to rise to the occasion by showing off their bakes.

14 cakes were entered in to the competition, with two categories, over 16's and under 16's.

With their rolling pins at the ready some of the bakes featured a Stonehenge cake, Biscoff cake, Chocolate stars cake and many more.

Who are the winners?

Congratulations to the winners of The Great Salisbury Bake Off:

Over 16s

1st Place – Jane Sales with her Groot cake

2nd Place – Louise Shergold with her Peter Rabbit cake

Under 16s

1st Place Chloe Korb with her Fruit Victoria sandwich

2nd Place Amelia Shergold with her Victoria sandwich with cherries

Jane Sales, who won in the Over 16s category, said “I was absolutely over the moon to have won in the Over 16’s category. My daughter also loves baking and entered into the competition in the Under 16’s category. We have already been looking on YouTube to see what we can do with the prize which was so kindly donated by The Cake Forge.”

How were they judged?

The Mayor of Salisbury, Cllr Caroline Corbin, Danny from Charter 1227 Catering, Dan from The Cake Forge and local photographer Spencer Mulholland judged the cakes and were looking for the best decorated, taste and inside look.

The Mayor of Salisbury, Cllr Caroline Corbin said, “A big well done to the winners of The Great Salisbury Bake Off. It was a pleasure judging the cakes and I was so impressed by the talent of all the bakers in the competition. Thank you to everyone who entered.”

Foodie Sunday marked the tenth and final day of Taste Salisbury; a food and drink celebration across the city. The event had tastings, food demos, an array of local vendors and live music throughout the day.

An estimated 2500 people visited the food and drink extravaganza and Salisbury City Council would like to thank everyone who visited and took park in the event.
