Work will continue this morning to repair a damaged gas main in Salisbury.

Trains are now running again as normal after SGN completed a complex operation with safety checks carried out last night.

They have been working on the site in London Road since Wednesday afternoon after a gas pipe was ruptured by digging.

Two mobile phone network masts within the cordon were due to be restored last night.

Waseem Hanif, spokesperson for gas distribution company SGN said:

"We once again apologise for the inconvenience and would like to thank the Salisbury and Andover communities for your patience and understanding.

"Our team will remain on site o complete repairs. This work will not have any impact on the railway line or the roads."
