Organisers say it's following requests from local people

Salisbury's Race for Men event is adding a new distance to its roster for 2023, following some local requests.

The event, which starts and finishes at Hudson's Field each summer, includes 3K, 10K and half marathon routes.

But next year, a 5K course will also be added, to appease parkrunners that want to take part at a distance they're used to.

The runs all raise money for the Stars Appeal's Prostate Cancer Fund, supporting patients at Salisbury District Hospital going through male cancers.

Since it was launched in 2011, it's raised over £47,000 for the charity.

While it's traditionally been a 'race for men', the last event in the summer allowed women to also get involved in support of the cause.

We're also told there'll be more announcements about the day itself and further fundraising activities in due course.
