There's a push for more people to sign up as on-call firefighters for Tisbury's station.

They've posted on social media saying they're in need of extra cover, especially between 8.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday.

Tisbury Fire Station isn't manned by a crew full-time, relying on on-call staff to attend emergencies when needed.

Two thirds of Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue is made up of on-call firefighters.

Crew members are generally contracted for between 40 and 120 hours per week, but only get called out when their pagers go off.

They're also trained up to the same standard as regular firefighters, providing a vital service to communities.

There's more information about becoming an on-call firefighter on the DWFRS website.
