Prolific Salisbury thief jailed for beauty spot car thefts
It's the fourth time Lenny Wells has been convicted of this kind of crime
A thief from Salisbury has been jailed for four years after being found guilty of conspiracy to steal from motor vehicles.
34 year Lenny Wells from Eyres Way broke into a total of 36 cars between February and June last year.
The incidents happened across five counties - Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset, Somerset and Devon.
Wells smashed the windows of cars parked up at beauty spots to steal items.
During the trial at Salisbury Crown Court, recorder Don Tait said Wells 'was a prolific thief whose offending was persistent and targeted'.
Detective Constable Jem Horner from Wiltshire Police said:
“This is a sentence which reflects the seriousness of the repeated offending by Wells.
“This is the fourth time that Wells has been convicted of this offence since 2013.
“I hope this sends a strong message that we will not tolerate such blatant disregard of the law and of the emotional and financial consequences that result from these actions.
“The team that helped put this investigation together have worked hard to bring Wells to justice and I’m pleased that their efforts are reflected in this outcome. I hope this will bring some comfort to the numerous victims in this case.”
