Prolific burglar from Amesbury jailed

A prolific burglar from Amesbury has been jailed for two years.

45 year old David Clift from Truckle Road, admitted three counts of burglary relating to incidents in Larkhill, Old Sarum and Tidworth:

  • A break-in at an address on the The Packway in Larkhill on November 5th, in which a charity box was stolen
  • A burglary in Old Sarum between November 2nd and November 6th
  • An incident in Tidworth on November 1st, in which cash and other items were taken

Another 11 offences were also taken into consideration during his sentencing at Salisbury Crown Court.

He's also been ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £187.

Inspector Tina Osborn from Wiltshire Police said:

"Clift is a prolific offender – his actions have caused upset to a number of people over the years and I am grateful to the officers from our Neighbourhood and Volume Crime Teams who have been working closely to target repeat offenders.

"Burglary can have a lasting impact and it is crucial that these offences are thoroughly investigated and put before the courts.”
