We've been getting an update on the work's that been carried out on the West of England train line - while it's been shut between Salisbury and Yeovil.

The route closed on November 25th, with buses replacing trains from Salisbury to Tisbury and into north Dorset.

Network Rail are due to be on site until this Sunday (10th December).

Lots of older tracks have been replaced with new lines during the closure, to improve reliability of services

The bulk of the work has been to replace some old tracks, maintain level crossing, clear overhanging vegetation and install new cabling.

We're told engineers have already cleared old ballast, rails and sleepers at Dinton Mill, near Tisbury station.

1,400 yards of new track have been laid down in its place.

There's also been improvements made to the track at Compass Bridge near Tisbury.

Train services are expected to be reinstated on Monday (11th December), as the South Western Railway winter timetable comes into effect.
