More pop up vaccine centres a possibility after successful Salisbury trial
The NHS trust are trying to encourage as many people as possible to get jabbed
An outdoor bar in Salisbury stopped serving drinks this morning (Wednesday 25th August) and handed out Covid-19 vaccines instead.
Brown Street became a pop up vaccine centre, aiming to get the younger population to take their first or second dose.
It was being used as trial run by the Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, who are pleased with how the session went.
I was one of the first to get my second jab at Brown Street this morning.
It was well organised, only taking a few minutes from walking in to getting the jab.
The team now say they're discussing the possibility of doing more of these sessions.
They want people aged 18-39 to make sure they're getting the jab as it will help protect yourself and help stop spreading the virus to others.
Fiona Hyett, Centre Director for the City Hall vaccine centre, said:
"It was great to be working outside in a sunny relaxed environment. Those that had booked appointments were in and out very quickly and all were happy to be getting the COVID vaccine. The team are pleased with how this trial session went. We will now have a review and explore the feasibility of doing similar clinics in the coming weeks. A huge thank you to The Chapel for working with us on this important initiative and making our team so welcome".
VACCINATION FIGURES
The latest government figures show that, as of Monday (23rd August), 382,899 people in the county have got their first jab.
335,332 have received both doses.
