Police tackle traffic offences in Salisbury Plain towns and villages
Officers have been patrolling so-called hotspot areas in recent weeks
Police based in Amesbury have been sharing the results of a crackdown on traffic offences in towns and villages in the Salisbury Plain area.
They've been out on a series of operations in recent weeks, targeting what they're described as hotspot areas.
Officers from the Special Road Safety Unit have been out in Tidworth and Ludgershall.
On Friday night alone (4th October), they dealt with eight drivers:
- 1 x Vehicle Report for no tax
- 3 x Traffic Offence Reports for excess speed
- 1 x Traffic Offence Report for careless driving
- 2 x Traffic Offence Report for no insurance
- 1 x Vehicle Reported for speeding, no insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with license, no MOT and taking without consent, with the vehicle seized
One of the speeding offences involved a young driver, stopped on Andover Road in Ludgershall.
They only passed their test three months ago, and were caught going at more than double the speed limit.
The driver's been reported to court.
Speed checks have also been carried out in Durrington, Bulford, Larkhill & Figheldean. with a number of drivers spoken to:
- 20 vehicles were stopped on The Packway in Larkhill, with five tickets issued
- 11 vehicles were stopped on Bulford Road, Durrington where 1 ticket was issued
- 4 vehicles were stopped on Alanbrooke Road, Larkhill with words of advice passed
The highest speed recorded was 46mph in a 30 zone, with that driver reported to court for excess speed.
